I was on a forum which had some Russians. What the Democrats would call people trying to subvert our Democratic institutions. As best I could tell they were real people who were just Russian patriots. I don't doubt that TheMiddleWay and N0DD see themselves as on the right side. They have just had different opinions assigned to them than I have had assigned to me. The difference is I'm not so proud that I don't recognize that my opinions were assigned to me.

Memory is a tricky thing, most people don't remember what happened but remember a filtered version of what happened. Two sources of error are perception of the actual event and the personality of the observer. There is considerable evidence that personality has a strong genetic component. It's a small jump from there to start seeing people we disagree with as defective in some way. Right now the left has decided that people on the right, especially white males are morally defective by heritage both genetic and culturally. It's a moral panic. Moral panics are sources of political corruption. The best of intentions can and do most often go terribly wrong. I like prohibition as an example but there are plenty of others. In a moral panic most often the perfect is the enemy of the good.

The right has their own moral panic over socialism. I happened to think that socialism is is an impediment to civilization. A strange version of the noble savage mythology. Oddly reinforced by the naturalist/scientific communities rejection of "freewill". You can trace it all back through the intellectual evolution of Western culture. That said moral panics are by definition irrational. It doesn't help to be in a panic. Unscrupulous figures on the right will exploit it just as they do on the left.

Faced with the choice of going to war or learning to get along with other personality types most people will choose that latter. On occasion it is better for society to choose war but it is very very hard to know when. The South certainly picked a bad time, when they had neither the population or technological advantage. It doesn't help to fight and lose. The right is behind in technology and population at the moment. If they want to win they first have to correct these disadvantages. The fact that if they wait it may be too late is something worth considering but I think they have already waited too long and only have one option left, build up their strengths, engage in the same low level culture war that the left has used to gain power. Are reeducation camps out of the question, not if AOC and her idiot followers are any indication. It could be the right will just have to keep having babies to win.

It is going to take a serious culture shock to get the upper middle class to abandon the Democratic party. Too many cushy jobs in government, too much power in teacher unions, too many welfare recipients to serve bread and circus to, too many immigrants to exploit, too many lucrative research grants. Most people vote self interests even if they don't realize it consciously. There just isn't any evident advantage for corporations or well off people to take up conservative principles. Considering the incompetence of people like Joe Biden his advisors and the Democratic party in general that culture shock will probably come as an economic depression. A culture shock won't change anyones personality but it will change their view of self interests.

I don’t know, but I will say that middle way at least has some positive contributions, I don’t agree with him on 98% of things, I don’t think he is at all center. But I don’t think he is always just a troll.

Life is full of those who have differing views. Argument backed with fact is how an informed opinion is reached.
That's how society moves forward. There are many who have been brainwashed into chanting a mantra that is designed to stop logical thought, thats how you control the young. Take it all in! Reject the dogma and engage those who are willing to have their minds changed by logic and facts.
