For my fellow Americans, what do you think about the Green New Deal?

A leftist version of Trump’s ridiculous campaign platform. Appealing to a hyperbolic base in the same way that Trump did to differentiate himself from the more mild establishment right.

It's good as far as it's environmental, but it goes off into lala land when it incorporates "social justice".

It’s a childish, naive, irresponsible and dangerous wish list. Why dangerous? It would result in a massive shift of power from individuals to the government.

Not an american but i could say it would be cool of they added nuclear energy into it.

Simple economics, if you raise taxes as much as the Green New Deal proposes to (70%), the government actually losses revenue because the businessmen go to other countries where taxes are reasonable. The new businesses have a hard time to start and grow their businesses given the fact that it is already very risky. Also when businesses pay so much in tax, your salary will take a big hit too. In terms of practicality I say bullshit.

They want to make every building in US clean energy by 2030.That means 2000-3000 buildings have to be reconstructed PER DAY lol.

How is the country going to make jobs if businesses leave and how are you going to pay for free college/healthcare to everybody when the country is in 22 trillion dollars in debt.

In terms of power, the more money and responsibility you give to the government... the more powerful (authoritarian) it becomes.

The democrats are on crack.

A piece of art.

Abstract art maybe.

Leaving out all the usual absurdities pointed out daily, there is nothing like planning a massive country wide infrastructure project when your concern is co2. Between the concrete and machinery that would have to be involved and all the energy resources it would take to make high speed rails everywhere and modify and rebuild every building you’d most definitely exacerbate the problem in the process. If one were to take her seriously one would also have to ignore the fact that the US only contributes 14% of the world’s co2... so her claim we’d save money overall by mitigating weather related disasters is also laughable. She’s a joke but one that is made less and less funny when you realize how many supporters she has...
