Being a traditionalist, pre-modernist, or classical conservative(depending on your preferred nomenclature) means that I'm often lumped in and undifferentiated from the fine folks on the modern right. I'm normally fine with this, my traditionalism is on the progressive side and my monarchism is the libertarian monarchy describe by Hans Hermann Hoppe, so being associated with classical liberals and libertarians works well enough for a quick generalisation.

What everyone seems to forget, however, is that classical liberals are the folks who toppled society in the first place. The idea of tearing down the establishment in the name of equity did not originate with the post-modernists, that was the classical liberals. Instead of attempting to shift society, they decided to tear down society and artificially rebuild it in their own image. Freddie N. wasn't talking about SJWs killing God, he was referring to classical liberals.

But that's in the past, I promise I'm not still bitter(okay, maybe a bit, but you guys decapitated a lot of my ancestors). It's the shock and disgust that so many classical liberals display when the post-modernist use those exact same tactics that ruffles my feathers. Post-modernism is the logical continuation of modernism, socialism is the logical continuation of democracy, identitarianism is the natural continuation of class warfare(yeah, you guys started that too). It's like watching someone light one room in a building on fire and then scream in bewilderment when the whole damn building burns down. It just seems a bit disingenuous to say, "Listen, we violently overthrew society and forced our dogma on the world, but it's wrong for you to do the same."

But then again, I'm merely a failed philosopher who was chased out of the academy for writing about Trivers instead of the patriarchy, so I would love the insight of more politically savvy folks.

The thing with classical liberals is, these days there are so few genuine liberals left, as the politically correct progressive mentality has infiltrated liberal circles.

Very true, but my point is that the regressive left is a direct result of the classical liberal philosophy. The modernists set the precedent that problems are solved by violently overthrowing culture, society, and tradition and then artificially recreating them. The post-modernists are merely carrying on that precedent. When Cronus murdered Uranus to gain the thrown, he gave up the right to legitimately protest Zeus doing the same to him.

I may also be conflating the terms classical liberal and modernist, mea culpa if so. In my view, a classical liberal is inherently a modernist, whereas a modernist is not inherently a classical liberal. My critique is truly of modernism in itself, I merely focus on the classical liberals because, in my estimation, they are the only modernists with a legitimate ideology.
