I firmly believe that there are 3 specific purposes of federal government. They are identified in the preamble to the constitution. They are: 1. Provide for the common defense (military and border security), promote the general welfare (ensure all laws apply to all equally), and secure the blessings of the liberty (outlined in the bill of rights also known as civil rights).
I believe all activities beyond this in our government are overreach and not intended in federal government.
I would be interested in hearing from those that disagree and why they do so.

Because it is open to interpretation, there are many different ways to see it. I agree with u for the most part on your 3 purposes but think the welfare does go just a little farther than just being treated equally in the laws. I don't think it goes as far as all our socialism but there are some socialist ideas I would say apply.
