As a Canadian and conservative I am very concerned over the progressive movement in North America. We need to have a method of rising up to the challenge of teaching Millenials and those coming of voting age. What is your take on the upcoming elections in Alberta?

As a Canadian flatlander I have, sadly, entertained the idea of moving to the USA if we fall any further left than we already are. Our rights as citizens to voice dissent or even concern is being stripped away, my privilege of owning firearms is being systematically stripped away and we are falling further and further behind economically despite being one of the most resource wealthy countries in the world. Something has got to give here.

We’re fortunate here in the US to have the NRA and the 2nd amendment which goes quite a ways in protecting our gun rights. In spite of this the democrats have attempted to undermine the 2nd amendment by appointing liberal judges to the bench who don’t recognize the 2nd amendment as giving private citizens the right to own firearms.

As an Albertan it's clear there is a near inevitability that the UCP (United Conservative Party) will gain power but there are still a large segment, especially in Edmonton and a few other ridings that have been voting far left for decades as well as about a dozen on the bubble. If the worst occurs and the NDP regains power, if only a minority, the damage could be severe. Hoping for that Kenny bill 1 anti carbon tax bill he's promising us.

Yes...for me here in the US they use Canada as proof that it works...I have relatives in NB and have spent many summers. I don't want Canada to fail. But you look at government debt compared to GDP...Canada is like 89%...it has been over 100%. The first real socialized medicine was introduced in 66...but went hog wild in 84. It wasn't just that, the country has been sliding left for 100 years but picking up speed the last 50. It isn't that all social plans are bad...but they are all expensive. The trade off for government power is reduction in your own. The debt of your government is actually YOUR debt. It becomes indentured servitude. If you earn $100 and pay Canada's 33% in taxes? And the provincial 15%?...you got $52. If you buy $52 in gas 33% is tax....you got $34.84 in product for $100 of your hard earned money.

While I am not from Canada, I do share in your concern in regards to the rapidly growing far-left progressive movement, and we do need to speak up more over said issue. Hopefully Canada swings more to the right in the coming election.

Having President Trump in place has been a great start so far in pushing back against the self destructive culture change that the Obama years began initiating.

I’m concerned about it as well especially with new radical left wing nuts like Ocasio Cortez and the new Muslim Congress women, Talib and Omar.

I agree 100%.. They are detrimental to our country and we need to continue pushing back against their ludicrous ideology and actions.

@Biosphere No doubt about that as their policies would be disastrous for this country.

I'm in the same boat as you mate, a Canadian conservative skeptical of what's taking place in Canada. I think it mainly stems from our PM currently. Unfortunately, our colleges and universities are incredibly liberal which promotes progressive movements. I hope Alberta ditches the NDP and moves to a conservative government. Although I can't say I have been following the politics there. I'm in Ontario.
