U.S. Constitution.
Article II.
Section 4.
The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Reps (especially the President) must be free from false accusation and litigation to insure they can not be politically pressured and are effectively representing us. (Which the Democrats are now violating). Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution.

Those who want an Amendment that makes Congresspeople legally the same as the public are multiplying their manipulability.

I would say you are half right. This is a problem with both parties. They have used mechanisms in the Constitution to further a political agenda. Impeachment and talk of impeachment should not be done as cavalier as it is done these days. The Clinton impeachment was a sham as much as the attempts at impeaching Trump are. Media is playing right into this these days and they have an obligation to be outside of the fray. It is the sole reason the freedom of the press is protected in the First Amendment. Both parties are only concerned about their own and how it profits them. The only color that matters these days is green!

Hardly anything these days the Democrats don't violate...
