De-Federalizing Board of Education

President Trump has talked about eliminating the federal board of education and delegating the responsibility of setting education standards to the local level. This sounds like a good idea in general. I've been observing the literacy of younger people dropping, the understanding of history waning, the indoctrination of children with radical Leftist topics like Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity, not to mention the coming plans to force Transgender education onto children as young as 3rd grade.

Allowing communities to have a say as to what school districts are allowed to teach should be a good way to start bringing education back into the education system.

What do you all think?

We also need to abolish the teachers union.

Is it the federal board that mandates a teaching of diversity, Transgenderism, etc.?

I agree, but I also believe that the Feds should withhold funding from states who fail to educate less than 90%.

If we cannot abolish the Federal influence on the educational system immediately, this may be a good first step to begin 'walking it back'

The tenth amendment, to my understanding, says that the government should not be involved in any area that is not directly assigned to the federal government in the constitution. I don't believe education (or health care) is mentioned. Our public schools are totally out of hand. Example, my 12 yoa twin grand-daughters were taught, in health class, that anal sex would preserve their virginity and prevent them from getting pg. Grandma (an RN) had already told them about the birds and bees and more, so they didn't buy it. TG

Exactly right. Administration over healthcare and education is not a Constitutional power and therefore the Federal government has no business interfering with those things.

It is absoloutely amazing that anyone who calls themselves libertarian or conservative could be in favor of the government running schools... at any level.

It's about time to get the federal government out of our schools. The teachers are complicit in bringing non mainstream political ideas into the classroom. It has shock value when schools want to teach gay marriage, transgenderism, gender fluidity, abortion on demand, hatred of a sitting president and much more to 3rd graders. It's completely inappropriate and is child abuse. Close the Department of Education run by leftwing loons happy to brainwash our kids.

At this point, these teachers are no better than drug dealers.

I agree. The Department of Education is unconstitutional.

Artice 1 Section 8 lays out the powers of Congress. It has gone far beyond the powers listed. If it ain't in the constitution or bill of rights it ain't legit.

In my opinion, Abolish + leave it to the states/local (States rights) + privatize education so competition can give schools the incentive to offer quality education = people being better off.

I concur.

Totally agree. Better yet, homeschool your kids.
