Does a high or low, in the historical past, constitute president for today's legislation? Or, does there need to be more justification than, "well what I propose is less severe than in 1950 or 1982 or 1994". . . [For example]? If a high or low, from the past works, what about instances? "Well, we did it before, so this is no worse. . .". Is that ok? Do prohibitions and limitations work, in the long run?

Change is hard. Division is unavoidable, as different people foresee different results. But, we have to grow and progress, as a people or risk stagnation. Change is scary. Too much, too fast and a house of cards crumbles. That's no excuse for unchecked, obstinate, narrow-mindedness. Complacency breeds decadence.

For a relatively young nation, founded on strict, religious ideals, we've come a long way. Historically speaking, we tend to back-slide, as we go. Progressive social change has always been met with powerful backlash and restrictions, on the growing liberal outlook. The fringes of society tend to push the bounds, of current social acceptability.

The US has ever been the forefront, of this paradigm, since it's inception. The world has literally followed our lead, for more than 2 centuries, despite worldwide condemnation and ridicule. Long, have we been the spark, that ignites an inferno. We are an ongoing [if inadvertent] social experiment, culminating in a storm of global social change.

So, when did our balance lose it's innate function? How did the liberal, progressive engine, driving our evolution, become a chamber of reversion, regurgitating failed ideals, of the past? When did our staunch, conservative anchor, lose it's hold upon reality and responsibility? Odds are, never. They probably never really embodied the ideals, I naively transposed.

I like to believe, that there is truth and justice, at the root of politics. I'd love to one day find, that our government and politicians have our best interests, in mind and at heart. The optimistic dreamer in me, yearns for progressive growth, for us all. But, the cynic in me sees only folly and division, on both sides, of the coin. Sadly, the realist tends to side, with the latter.

The simple truth is, I don't think that things have ever been, as I percieved them to be. At the end of the day, I'm a hopeless romantic, lost in misconception. And I'm not alone. So, where do we go, from here? What are your scrambled toughts?

The US is the oldest current national government in the world. Its economic success has forwarded much of the human race out of hunger and poverty. In battle our enemies fear us and our allies depend on us. Those who ridicule us are mostly children crying for their milk. The progressives have changed this country in some fundamentally good ways like racial equality and de-legislate consensual behavior. Progressives have also experimented on many failed projects (some of which we've learned from, others not so much). The trans movement right now seems mostly void of intelligence but I might be wrong. Killing children continues to be a blindside, I couldn't tell you why. Trying to shut down free speech is a definite no no and needs to be responded to whenever allowed.

Things are good - here, try an infusion of this -
