There is a coalition of 50 countries that are attempting to get the Venezuelan socialist dictator out of power, there are some countries opposing that though Russia, China you know the communists. So just remember that when you want to be a Democratic socialist you're on Russia's team.

I am trying not to be too alarmist but I am truly very worried about this Marxist advance we seem to be idiotically galloping, drooling mouths and fat fingers outstretched, towards so gleefully.

I wonder at what point on the progression towards Marxism the true patriots will say “enough.”

It’s gonna get real tense after that

The studies show kids in school right now, the millennials younger siblings hold more conservative values than the greatest generation at the same age. They are starting businesses, having savings accounts b4 leaving high school, so theres hope

That’s good to know. I fucked off a lot and blame no one but myself. I’m getting my act together and going back to school aiming to begin my own business and start a family in the next few years. Once I began really sorting out reality it’s mineblowing how shortsighted I was. The indoctrination job is well done

Until there is a viable solution to the problems inherent to capitalism, then people will always seek an alternative.

But whatever form the future takes, it will not replicate the Soviet Union, whether it is Marxist or not.

@InternetDorkWeb You sound so sure. I’d be interested in the source of your optimism haha

@Rjfinnell The economic conditions that made the soviet union possible do not exist in the modern world. You can no more return to it, than you can return to feudalism or pre-christanity.

We don’t live in an early industrialising economy where a few key industries are able to exert significant influence on the country as a whole. Without this there can be no socialist revolution, because that relies on a concentration of power, and our economy is too splintered and specialised.

If there is to be a modern form of communism it will not resemble the Soviet Union, because you cannot turn back the spinning wheel of history. Instead it would take into account our present economic conditions and develop from there.

It’s unlikely it would be totalitarian, for example, because totalitarianism is not compatible with modern western economies, nor would people in the developed world tolerate it. Our economy is far too dependent on services, and that relies on having free choices.

Which is not to say they would definitely let the economy remain as is, there would definitely be radical reform, but not a regression into early industrialisation and manufacturing.

It probably would seek to break up Google, Facebook and so on however, due to the influence they wield. I don’t think most people would be sufficiently opposed to this to make it impossible either.

It may or may not seek to reverse trends urbanisation (there are arguments for both). It would probably seek to reduce climate change. It would certainly attempt to address the issues caused by automation.

On top of these aspirations about what a contemporary communist state would do though, we must also keep in mind the possibility of unanticipated shifts in the economy, as well as things not working as intended.

But looking at the soviet union and just thinking history will simply repeat itself
is just foolish. History is something you learn from, not a paste function.

@InternetDorkWeb I appreciate your time. That all makes very good sense.
