True equality of free expression does not exist.
The idea that redefining marriage would have no effect on the lives of those of religious devotion has proven to be incorrect.

Whether it's the interference with Trinity Western's Code of Ethics,
the double standards of flying the LGBTQQIP2SAA but not a Christian flag, or South Africa were the Government is interfering with the Dutch Reformed Church's right to create its own policies it has become clear
that the redefining process doesn't end with marriage.
The process moves on to long-held principles of what religious freedom is. And it also includes redefining gender, freedom of speech,
what constitutes mental illness and how much society accepts the sexualization of minors.

It didn't need to be this way.
We don't need to move to discriminate or set ourselves against any group of people.
A political party or portion of a society does not need to abuse another.
On an individual level no one needs to be hated; a person doesn't have rights because they are Christian or a homosexual: But because they are human beings.
They are people dealing with suffering from within and by nature.
No human being needs to have the additional weight of the mob of the majority going after their rights put against them.
It doesn't need to stay this way.

Do you disagree?

The idea of Intersectionality, now favored by the left, is the idea that individuals are judged to be oppressed or oppressors by the group they are in. Good and evil are found in social structures, not in individuals. It is fundamentally opposed to the idea of equality among individuals. I don't see how the two concepts can be reconciled. Only one side can win out in the end.

You seem to contradict yourself, given the modern definition of words.
If the modern proggressives are to have their way, then 'discrimination' and 'abuse' are both going to be defined by larger society in such a way that religious believers will be discrimantory and/or abusive merely by existing, let alone attempting to live out their faith.

Someone else's free expression(s) can only interfere in your life if you give it permission to. On that level, you are correct, it doesn't have to be that way.
