Elon took the Chinese bait of money to be made in China. He has not wised up to the fact that it doesn't work that way over there. You get to be milked by them, not the other way around.

I do love the fact that it took one month of bad press to take Elon's smarts down. Sorry Elon, didn't see that one coming did you?

Fortunately for us, we are invested in two of China's electric/AI cars. Works for me LOL

@toronto_Georgia electric vehicles are limited in range. You cannot bring along jerry cans of gas. Storing juice is always in heavy and expensive batteries.

@eschatologyguy and to charge them takes electricity made from fossil fuels - what irony

@stevie-f, @eschatologyguy I don't disagree, however the newer batteries are good for a substantially extended storage and battery life. Country folks and people who use their cars extensively every day would find all of this still prohibitive. City dwellers and small town residents might to quite happy with the mileage on a battery. I object more to disposal of batteries after the fact, and that charging stations are pretty much always fueled with diesel fuel, making the entire "green" concept moot.

@toronto_Georgia yes exactly. And there is also the open question about how costly to the environment is the manufacturing process. How many plastic components does an electric car have? Asking for a friend 😎

@stevie-f How much rare earth and the resulting destruction to the environment it brings needs to be mined? Mass production in several countries like Europe, US and China would call for tons of these minerals.

As to plastics, these days they all use huge amounts. That's how they've been able to reduce weight and increase mpg improvements.

Short of moving to hemp, the oil industry is the sole source of these plastics.

We're way ahead of the curve. But you have to park it away from termite mounds Eat your heart out, Fred Flinstone! πŸ˜‚
