Why is the media having such a hard time taking the New Zealand shooter at his word, that he was a nationalist and Libertarian. His views are only right wing in the concept of individual liberties... most everything else he posted sounds pretty left wing to me... but maybe it was just shitposting, even though it all fits when taken as the truth of his beliefs..

This post should in no way suggest I agree with any of the shooters motives of hate speech... I do not, in any way...

The MSM will only post what suits their narrative at the time.

He called himself "an eco-fascist" and said the county that he most closely aligns with is China; you know, the former communists who are now Fascists.

In no way does any of that make him a Libertarian.

I agree that he said he was an Eco-fascist... and never said he was Libertarian... but that was what I got from the words he wrote, and the questions he asked himself... maybe I just fail to understand the Libertarian stance..

@Toto have you read his manifesto? If so, where did you find it?

@Jeeper752 I did a search for it right after the shooting... they put it up and take it down almost daily... I read through... and I found it rather hateful as a whole... but I am no expert on it... I don't have the stomach for the BS he was spouting...

I have some knowledge of the extreme right and their beliefs, so let me put it to you very bluntly: Do not take that piece of garbage at his word for a single thing he said. He was writing for the reaction, not for ideological consistency or explanation. Taking him at his word, or even reading that disgusting document is what he wanted people to do.

I agree. Reason (the libertarian site) has a short article pointing this out, including noting that some parts of his manifesto that are obviously trolling.

[reason.com]

I also noted his trolling... but it appeared to be clear to me when he was asking a question for the reaction... and when the truth came out... kind of like when he said he liked Trump for his views on nationalism, but not his policy... the first is a point for the MSM to center on... and the last is his truth... and although this is not the very best example... it is how the whole thing read to me... at least what I could stomach...

further, how are we to understand his criminal mind if we refuse to see what he said?... do we wait to have the government or law enforcement release press briefings?....... sorry, but we have seen far too much manipulation by those in charge of late... I prefer to have a little first hand knowledge... because I have already seen more than enough mis quotes from the "manifesto", presented to follow the supposed agenda of the left wing media....

@Toto Understanding his motives and mind are important, but you have to understand that the people he’s writing that to practically have their own language within English that allows them to communicate without getting shut down, because it masks what’s real and what’s presented as decoys. If you want to read it it can be found online even now, but I make a point never to possess copies of any extremist content unless there’s no other way for me to see it.

@StrykerWolfe I understand that when I read the words I will not always get the real meaning... I do not make it a point to hang out with or collect Nationalist propaganda... but the little I have seen has always seemed rather transparent to me... I could see the hate and BS as clear as day...

So if you claim the writer was using code... than I would have to do far more research (I have no intent on spending that much effort on what I hold to be crap beliefs) to understand... but I would also assume the same from the media... unless they have folks on staff that are specialists in translating these code words... otherwise it all becomes conspiracy... and the bias comes in full force...

@Toto Good idea, that’s a hell of a path to walk down, and keeping your head straight while getting through all that stuff is nearly impossible. As for the media part, it’s neither that they have specialists or that there’s a conspiracy. Literally everything they understand about the coded language in that manifesto came from an article that appeared almost immediately after it was realsed, on a site called Bellingcat, Robert something was the guys name. Those dudes are real journalists who actually go into pretty much any group and learn their shit before they write an article. Of course, this makes them so obscure they only get 3rd paragraph mention twice a year when they make the rest of the media look like fools.

Alot of folks automatically lump together far right individuals and libertarians due to both groups having similar ideas and beliefs.

I would point out for my part... I do not lump what is referred to as "far-right" (although most are more similar to far left) in with what I understand to be libertarian.. the easiest way I can explain broadly what I understand the libertarian view to be is" individual liberty above all else"... which is rather over simplified... but it is a rather large topic for a single line...
