I have to admit something...and I'm betting many of you do too.

I am loving this site. For several reasons. I love having a place where I can let my mind run free. Where I can actually engage with people about topics that, on Fakebook, would get me attacked, censured, blocked or banned. Its nice not having to worry about petty reprisals and engage in open and honest discussion and debate. An environment where this can occur is rare. That...is refreshing.

Another reason is meeting like minded people and people from the other side of the isle, flip side of the coin, opposing mindset or even differing viewpoints willing and open to discussing these often contentious issues. We are laying a groundwork here for "Common Ground" which so many claim to want on other sites...but never seem to achieve. This place is chock full of promise there.

And lastly, and more honestly, all my old jokes are funny again here! I get to let my hair down (figuratively...i'm bald) here and show my lighter if not more sardonic side. I thank you for that!

Thats it...just know I'm loving it here!

Hell yes! It's so refreshing I'm really amazed it's as good as it is. I used to run a 22 line BBS back in the day before the internet came about and put me out of business. It was called Cybernet (before even Cyber meant Sex chat online) and I tried creating an open discussion environment inspired by the movie, Pump Up The Volume w Christian Slater. It was amazing and still have friends from on there. Also it was Cyberpunk inspired. Anyway this reminds me of those times. Those discussions, but much bigger and better! Glad your all here participating and making this place active and an oasis among the desert of flotsam out there in social media.

Loved pump up the volume! Happy Harry hard on lol. Its great to have a space where you don't have to watch your every word👌

Agreed 🙂

I like the fact that people on this site are so informed that they make me think, and maybe change my mind about something by using reasoned argument and not just calling me names!

I know I’m rather enjoying it as well.

Loving it here as well.

On Facebook there is one closed group (that I know of) where people are civil (forced to do so by moderators) called the Thomas Sowell Foundation

And this site is like TSF (High Praise)

There is a website with many good Libertarian & Conservative articles about current subjects called [globallibertymedia.com]

Personal experience

Love that site! There are a couple more I can think of, but are also closed sites with good moderating. Disagreements are met with actual points of argument, not name calling or soundbites. ?

@Makaleka on WordPress, which I'd guess this is emoticons from your phone or tablet don't work

You have to go old school, like "colon" ) to get a happy emoticon 🙂

Also putting asterisks before and after word makes it italics

Another great closed group on FB is “Sharing Political Opinions” I’m going to recommend they move here.

It's hard to come to a new site and expect a different outcome. My initial defensive stance feels pleasantly uncalled for. Though I'm not politically inclined, my opinions often rub people the wrong way. (Maybe because of this even)

I enjoy the thought provoking posts, questions and answers from others. I haven't seen conversation degrade to childish name calling, and that in and of itself is a great feat.

I do hope the good remains, and we cultivate this even ground for different perspectives to come together. I'm scared of looking back on "the good times" if the community is overwhelmed by chattering harpies.
