Admittedly, I do not have a legal background, but something seems incredibly wrong with the entire Jussie Smollett situation. I have found myself sincerely angry over the charges being dropped and all evidence being sealed in this case over the last day. It seems to be to be a complete miscarriage of justice in every aspect. Quite a bit of evidence was released in the days before the grand jury charged Smollett and it was clear there was significantly more than a reasonable assumption that Jussie was guilty and should have his day in court. Yet now we are in the situation where both he and his lawyers have come out proclaiming that he was innocent all along. I know people have said they want to prioritize violent crime, but this cost Chicago a massive amount of resources, both human and financial. Additionally, this was a violent crime, Smollett claimed he was beaten by two white MAGA guys. The fact that it was a hoax of a violent hate crime should be all the more reason to prosecute. I, in my legal ignorance, cannot see a reason why these charges would be dropped and the records sealed other than some sort of corruption within the DA's office. Hopefully, someone in the legal field might be able to shed a bit more light on this and explain more technically why this definitely is corruption or give a reason why this is just a normal occurrence.

How can it even have happened - even if there is a legal loophole they went through -this alternative prosecution - when the following comments are being made "However, prosecutors still believe that Smollett fabricated the incident, despite the charges being dropped. " ""This was not an exoneration. To say that he was exonerated by us or anyone is not true," Magats said. "We believe he did what he was charged with doing." "The brothers involved in the investigation "were fully prepared to testify in any criminal proceeding in the Jussie Smollett case," "The prosecutor who oversaw the investigation into Jussie Smollett's alleged hate crime and dropped charges against him on Tuesday is clarifying that he "does not believe [Smollett] is innocent." " dropping the charges does not vindicate Smollett. "I do not believe he is innocent,"

There is nothing normal about such occur ancestors. It is just wrong . It is however , a common occurance among celebrities .

If the records had not been sealed, I might have been willing to consider the fact that the charges were dropped because some new evidence had come to light.
With the records sealed, ain't nothin' coming to light.

I too hope that as well, as Smollett should go to jail over what he did.

This seems like the quintessential situation for jail time. We have substantial evidence (per Chicago PD), pre-planning with knowledge of the racial consequences, attempted cover up by delivering only partial phone records to police and no remorse at all for anything that was done. Jussie Smollett is THE example that should be made.
