I honestly don't know what they expected in this case, they used underhanded attempts to try and create some excuse to undermine the president's credibility and likely assumed collusion could be possible since the POTUS has a large international business interest and assumed they could find SOMETHING. But they did not and and instead it's just shining light on them as the baseless accusers who called for it are realizing. I could be wrong about this since he could be guilty without enough concrete evidence to move on. But I don't think that is the case.

Instead of moving to Canada , they expect the rest of us to get out of their way . Not now , not ever .
