To my fellow Theists out there, looking back at past debates with Atheists, I think we need to do a better job of seeing the good in many non-believers.
Many have professed a love for wisdom and understanding. They believe in freedom and equal rights. Are these not Godly qualities?
Lets be more understanding of one another as we move forward on this forum. Argument will bear no fruit. Let us strive to see the merit in each others ideas as well.
And blah blah, you get it...

So true but the standard of good morality living begins where and with what or who.

Problem is atheist zealots like Dawkins encouraging their followers to mock and attack believers at every opportunity. I have several atheist friends but only after they learned not to come at me with their skydaddy rhetoric. But as someone pointed out below most evangelicals aren't any better.

True. Both sides have ideologues. I can't stand many Christians myself because of how awful they are. So more power to the non believer who still holds himself to a moral standard

You are best to separate god from religion if your supporting god, there is great discussion in God
but nothing to justify religion

Absolutely true

I saw and interesting interview with Penn Jillette the other day, on the topic of Atheism. While I’m a “theist” and he’s, well...not...he did make a good point. He said so many people get caught up in the afterlife, they tend to focus less on the present one. So very true! He’s not hurting me (or anyone else!) by not believing in God, and if I believe what the Bible teaches, it’s not my place to judge him for it. I’ve met plenty of toxic, “uber-religious” zealots, who chase more folks away from the Lord than draw them in, just because the example they provide is such a turnoff. I find those people far more damaging than an Atheist could ever be.

Yes, we should focus on the here and now. The Christian Heaven is a myth that isn't even in the bible. We are to establish the Kingdom on Earth, using His wisdom.

@MADcHATTER A very understandable position

@The_Farseer I think the concept of Heaven is one of those warm and fuzzy labels humans need to better understand a situation. I honestly believe we don’t have the mental capacity to understand what awaits us after we leave this life. Same with the concept of infinity...how does a mortal creature truly grasp that concept? It’s mind-boggling.

My parents (strict, traditional Baptists) and I are constantly butting heads on the subject. What sounds more plausible to me, as opposed to a Heaven and Hell, existing on the same plane of time and space, are many dimensions overlapping, which is where souls go to await the reunification of Christ with his people, on earth. Whether or not that’s true is anyone’s guess, but it would appear to be more in line with astrophysics and would explain some of the crazy phenomena we experience, on this astral plane. I have my faith, but I simply can’t deny the science as well—the fact that the two concepts can coexist is the missing piece, but unfortunately, too complicated for our simple little minds to digest.

@thewaywayback79 good point. And if I may suggest, it isn't worth arguing with fellow believers, but of course I don't understand all the particulars. Thank you for your response
