The Most Effective Weapon That Biden Isn’t Using Against Putin

On Tuesday, after much hesitation, the Biden administration finally banned imports of Russian oil, natural gas, and coal. But even though this latest development is a positive first step, the White House still hasn’t fully exercised all its options when it comes to hitting Putin where it actually hurts – Russia’s energy infrastructure.

The last decade of the Cold War provides a useful historical parallel for how the West might go beyond bans on imports of Russian energy to break the backbone of the Russian economy and bring Putin to heel. Then, as is the case now, many European countries relied on energy exports from Russia. However, U.S. President Ronald Reagan boldly took on the Kremlin by targeting energy production in the U.S.S.R. while also ramping up U.S. output.

Biden surrendered Afghanistan and left behind weapons and Americans.

Biden surrendered Ukraine and left behind bioweapons labs.

Numbnuts!

In the American Revolution, Americans smuggled bootleg tea. In the age of prohibition, they smuggled bootleg whiskey. Today they smuggle weed. In the future they will smuggle gasoline. Max Max world coming.

Colbert: I don't care about the price of gasoline. I don't care if it goes up to $15/gallon. I have a Tesla.

The American aristocracy has become as arrogant as the French aristocracy of 1793.

Psaki: Let them eat electric cars. Let them eat renewable energy. Let them eat wind turbines.

Geraldo Rivera has a sense of humor. He said: The price of oil is so high that I signed up to be a driller. Rivera will be spared the guillotine.

Hypothetical Babylon Bee headline: "Tennessee Titans change their mascot back to Oilers".

Cows: Show me the grass!

Truckers: Show me the gasoline!

Gingrich formed the glorious Tea Party and flipped the House red. Let's form a Gasoline Party. Single issue voter. The price of gasoline reflects America's energy strength and dollar strength. If the price of gasoline is low, you're winning. If the price of gasoline is high, you're losing.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

I'm not clear on why you tagged me in the above comment — and apparently in the one below, also.

@Wordmage

I tag everyone that posted in the thread.

I wish it was possible to get a notification every time someone posts in a thread that I've posted in. This would be a nice feature for the platform to have.

@jaymaron , agreed, that might be a nice feature. But it's not, and perhaps the developers had good reason for that. One reason might be that — not everything you write has any relevance to anything I wrote, especially if you're not responding directly to one of my own comments.
No offense, but please stop tagging me. Just because we happen to be commenting within the same thread doesn't mean everything you write is germane to something I observed or responded with.

Zelensky gained the presidency in a style analogous to Trump. He produced many hit TV shows, and he's backed by a theater company called Kvartal 95. He produced a show where he portrays a fictional Ukrainian president, and then he was elected president. Some of the members of Kvartal 95 are now in Zelensky's cabinet. Yay upward mobility! Yay that oligarchs lost the election.

Zelensky's courageous stand in Kiev is epic.

Zelensky applied for the job of president, and having acquired it, he's doing his job. He's putting his ass on the line and strengthening Ukrainian morale. Biden is not doing his job. America isn't getting bombed, yet Biden hides in a bunker, surrounded by a wall.

Poland announced that they want to give 24 fighter jets to Ukraine. The Biden administration announced that this was a surprise to them, and that they can't immediately respond to the Polish request. Biden, your job is to respond immediately.

In the Civil War, Lincoln placed the telegraph hub across the street from the White House, and he spent much time there. He read messages the instant they were received, and he instantly formulated orders and sent them out.

King George V: The King of England has no political power. His only job is to show up for ceremonies and not fall off his horse.

Biden's horse is Air Force One, and he fell off it.

Washington was considered the finest horseman in America. Washington has more horse miles than most modern Americans have flying miles.

Anyone feel like writing fan fiction about a fictional Trump presidency? Suppose Biden was benched and Trump was put in the game as Pinch President.

We pray that Zelensky survives and that he someday gets to tour the USA. Imagine Zelensky attending a college football game.

Let's go Zelensky! Let's go Ukraine!

South Korea elected a Conservative president today. [breitbart.com]

There will always be someone who will arrange to accept Russian energy, starting with Germany.

Ask a leftist: What's more important, climate or Ukraine?

Obama propagandized that people should willingly accept increased gas prices to save the climate. Leftists have this etched into their heads.

Psaki said "America gets only 10 percent of its oil from Russia".

America is the world's leading oil consumer. That's a lot of oil.

Biden said that everyone should buy electric cars, and that electric transportation will save us.

Not today.

Leftists don't want to admit that killing American drilling made America weak in the Ukraine theater. They're holding out for electric transportation. Holding on to the edge of the cliff with white fingers. Step on their fingers.

Biden said that there's nothing he can do about oil prices. That's like a quarterback saying there's nothing he can do to get the team yards. He has receivers scrambling around and blockers blocking for him, but he's unwilling to attempt a pass.

Biden, that's your job! To do something. You have the vast power of the USA backing you. If there's nothing you can do, sit your ass down on the bench and make way for a quarterback who can do.

Democrats should put Trump in the game as Pinch President.

Once upon a time, Rome was about to be conquered. The Senate had done everything they could do. In desperation they designated Cincinnatus dictator. Cincinnatus used his dictator power to marshall an army and kick the ass of the invaders. Rome was once again secure. Cincinnatus resigned the dictatorship a mere 15 day after being appointed, and returned to his farm.

America's mightiest weapon used to be nukes, and now it's cancellation.

Let's put social justice warriors to productive use.

When the cancel crowd goes Salem on someone, it's like a piranha swarm. A napalm strike.

The problem with that idea is that you can't really cancel an entire nation. Not that they haven't tried.

And, have you noticed who the weapon of cancellation has been used against? It's been used most against those who speak Truth. For instance, they've tried to cancel Dinesh Desousa, Candace Owens, Dennis Prager, Gina Carano … The cancel culture warriors on college campuses protest against Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, and Michael Knowles. They cancel people with huge followings like Lauren Southern and no-names like Canadian truckers. Cancellation is an evil tool that is wielded by a mob — and those who manipulate the mob. I don't want any part of it.

Our greatest weapon is Truth. Let liars lie, then expose them with Truth. This applies to both Putin and Biden. It applies to both Russians and Ukrainians ("Ghost of Kyiv," anyone?). Expose propagandists with Truth.

"Canceling" Putin will only force him to get in bed with China, and we absolutely don't want to witness any kind of Russian-Chinese alliance. But that's what current policies are compelling him to establish.

Russia got canceled by social media, and this helps sanctions.

America's mightiest weapon used to be nukes, and now it's cancellation.

Russia got kicked out of the World Cup, and this may hurt more than sanctions. Russia was also kicked out of hockey, rugby, Formula-1, curling, and hopscotch. Belarus was kicked out of rugby.

Only a small number of teams have been so egregiously naughty to get red carded from the cup. Germany and Japan 1950, South Africa 1966-90, Yugoslavia 1994, Russia 2022.

Russia is a radioactive meltdown that no one wants to touch.

We can't really count on Biden to do the right thing on that matter. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Russian citizens will overthrow Putin.

I'm not being an apologist for Putin here, or saying that we shouldn't mindfully be in opposition to a general invasion of Ukraine, but …
I have to wonder where Biden gets the authority to make this "decree." The purpose of the Executive Branch is to execute laws that have been duly passed by Congress. Beyond that, the Executive has no authority. Any "decree" issued by the Executive is, by definition, Executive overreach, and the Supreme Court should, in all cases, be ready to enjoin the Executive against acting unconstitutionally.
Sadly, it has not been so, and Executive overreach has been widely & frequently practiced.
(deep sigh)

Right. Executive Orders were originally intended to apply only to the Executive Branch, which is under the authority of the President. However, even then Executive Orders were supposed to be constrained by the Constitution. These days, such Constitutional constraints are regularly ignored.
