For a long time, satellites have been taken for granted. Some argue that they may clutter the spaceways. But I remember, as a little kid, Sputnik. 1957. The USA felt challenged. And the race for space was on! We had Werner Van Braun in our corner designing space stations. I had a notebook in 1960 with illustrations of space stations on the cover. A cosmonaut was first to orbit Earth. We were losing! Then John Glenn played catch-up. And by 1969, we landed on the moon. Phew! We won!
