My patriarch, the Patriarch of Antioch, lives in the house that was owned by Ananias on the Street called Straight in Damascus. Assad has protected the Antiochian Orthodox Patriarchate in Syria as well as the Syriac Orthodox Church, not in fellowship over the Chalcedonian Counsel's findings. He is the only Middle Eastern leader who does not sanction the persecution of Christians.
