Giuliani says there's nothing wrong with using information obtained from Russia, but he'd never do it! That doesn't seem like a good defense of Trump.

"Morality" he scoffs? Shouldn't the president be of good moral character? Certainly not an impeachable lack in Trump's character, but it could play.

And there's this...use of info from Russia was known by his campaign. How far up and at what time was it known to him? Well, we know he defended Russia for a long time. If it was known by him, he lied. And his attempts to sqush the investigation, even if it was only because he wanted to deny that he won because his team cheated in what may be a legal fashion, would be self-serving. If his efforts to stop investigations were self-serving, he wouldn't be protected by law for using powers of his position.

I honestly couldn"t care less, every government is going to try and influence another countries elections, if your biggest trading partner might elect someone who is known to want to change the system, wouldn't you ( smart country) want to influence the election of the person who will keep trading with you? It seems crazy to believe it is only Russia. I'd think they would have wanted Hillary - after all the uranium she sold them? Just a lot of fake news. I feel Canada may have been influenced by polls before our election. Also foreign money being given to political parties? How can that be ethical? The liberal news (msm) is trying to say that Trump was not fairly elected, they create doubt in the election of the government. I thinks that's all it is. ( FAKE NEWS) and you don't think the USA does this ALL OVER THE WORLD!

@ObiRonMoldy no one has yet proven that Russia altered the election! And regardless of the way Russia interfered, they all do the same! The DNC needs to do a better job to protect itself. I agree, with your point on trump, but tell me the USA does not hack into other countries servers? I didnt see any conspiracy theories btw.

@Tabithakitten
Spy agencies spy.
Although Clapper doesn't like the term "spying."
I didn't like it when he told Congress under oath that the NSA does not collect meta-data on every US citizen.
I guess we all don't like something 🙂

@An_Ominous perfectly said, whew!

@Tabithakitten An attempt was made to attack the Republican National Committee servers but it failed.
The DNC should try harder but Podesta shouldn't be allowed near a computer. He fell for a phishing scam and he just gave the hacker his password. I mean a six year old could have gotten his password that way.

The thing that irks and perplexes me is the rapid turnaround in the democratic party's attitude towards Russia.

Hillary presented the Russian ambassador with the Reset button. (Btw... they didn't get it at first. They thought it was The nuclear Button. Hillary Diplomat Extraordinaire... she can pass the torch like nobody's business.)

Obama drew the "red line" in Syria over chemical weapons. When Asad crossed it... Obama called in Putin to "clean up" the chemical weapons. Russian troops in Syria have consolidated Asad's position.

During the Romney debate Obama laughed at Romney's assertion that Russia was our biggest geopolitical enemy. He said, "the 80's called and want their foreign policy back."

Russian Intelligence warned us of the Tsarnaev brothers (though we apparently ignored the warning.)

Obama was caught on hot mic telling Vladimir that he would be "more flexible" after his last election.
Intelligence agencies were aware of Russians hacking into our systems during the Obama administration... but they did nothing about it.

Russia's sphere of influence increased during the Obama administration.
Then suddenly just before Obama left office... Russia became the most evil state on the planet. Anyone who had any association whatsoever with Russia became suspect... except the Clintons.

Podesta (Hillary's campaign chairman) was on the board of Joule Energy, a Russian company. The Clintons were dealing with Ukraine and Russian interests in the Uranium One deal. The Steele Dossier was prepared by a former British intelligence agent and he used sources in... Russia.

So... not long ago democrats including the Clintons were just fine with Russia. Then suddenly they're the source of all evil.
So what changed?
I don't think Putin changed. I'm pretty sure he's the same cold-ass KGB killer he used to be.

Even if you don't believe that the whole thing was a set-up you have to admit that this rapid change of DNC hearts seems almost Schizophrenic.

Btw The Zoot Suit Putins is a good name for a band.

@ObiRonMoldy I hope I wasn't unclear. I wasn't implying that Obama was actively helping Putin. I'm just saying that they didn't view Putin as Satan then. And Putin outmaneuvered the Obama administration.

Trump is challenging Putin by shipping LNG to Europe. But Putin has a pipeline deal in the works, the Nord Stream 2 that goes from Russia to Germany. So Putin may well outmaneuver Trump as well. (I have no idea why Germany is going along with this... seems counter to their interests.)

Russia has been trying to corner the market on uranium... which is good reason not to let them have any. But the uranium they got from the US is pretty low grade.

China is cornering the market on rare earth elements. The US used to dominate this area. In an effort to reassert a little bit of influence in the area Molycorp reopened a US mine near Death Valley. Various things went bad and Molycorp folded and I think China now owns that as well. Allowing inimical foreign entities to own mineral assets on US soil is a bad idea.

Those are the sorts of things that rarely make the headlines. China knows what it is doing.
Keep your eyes on Afghanistan, geologists think that there is a vast mineral wealth there (including rare earth elements.)

@ObiRonMoldy
I've been hearing about if for quite some time. I don't recall specifics... but a quick to the Oracle Google and lo and behold a link!
I do know that Russia and China have been cyber threats for a long time... and we haven't spent the money to upgrade our computer security.

This link is from Secure World... apparently a website devoted to cyber security.
[secureworldexpo.com]

Here's an NPR link that has a kinder view of the Obama administrations response to Russian cyber-attacks... mostly Obama met with Putin and told him to cut it out. Nothing happened until Dec. 2017. Then (and I recall this) Obama ejected Russian diplomats. Even Clapper says in his book that he wished we had taken more punitive action.

Ratcliffe calls for investigation into the "stand down order."
[ratcliffe.house.gov]

Yahoo article to the same effect:

[yahoo.com]

I don't know that there's anything not above board about this... but it looks like cyber-security was not a major priority during the Obama years... not until Dec. 2016

I skimmed several computer security sites that said Trump is better on cyber-security than Obama... but all of them said he's still not good enough.

@ObiRonMoldy
I was of that impression too... but I didn't find any links to support it... I didn't search very hard either. Maybe they don't exist. Perhaps since I get my news from a conservative bias someone swayed my opinion with something other than facts.
In any case... throw out the lax cyber security thingy... and the gist of my post was that for a while at least no one thought Russia was a threat. And then in a short span they were. Weird.

@ObiRonMoldy
Yep that's the old saying. As if the word bedfellows wasn't strange enough all by itself.
Anything that makes bedfellows makes strange ones.

Imagine greeting someone... Hoy boon companion and bedfellow!

@ObiRonMoldy
If you're agnostic and diabetic, Easter sucks 🙂

@ObiRonMoldy
Here's a link to a post on CNN no less. It says that the Mueller report flatly states that the Russian hacking had been going on since 2014.
I knew I had heard that before. Admittedly the author is a former adviser to Bush. But the claim is that the Mueller report corroborates this. In any case I'm kinda shocked that CNN would post it.

@ObiRonMoldy oops. I didn't post the link. It's on CNN and 19 hours old.

I heard the interview, they were discussing legal issues and then the interviewer tried to interject morality into the legal discussion. This Russia thing only plays with people suffering from TDS. Hillary lost because people with brains don't trust her, and voted against her. What are your thoughts on Obama putting boots on the ground in Isreal to unseat Netanyahu? Every country tries to influence other countries elections. It's just the way it is.

@ObiRonMoldy Hillary has done far far worse and hasn't been held accountable for any of it. She has actually broken laws.

I wouldn't base conclusions off of Guliani statements. There's something wrong with him.
I don't know why he's kept unless it's fun to have a spokesman create confusion. (It is Trump.)

@ObiRonMoldy Trump is real hit or miss on his people.

Seems like much ado about nothing
