I am tremendously grateful to live in the United States, and I'm even more grateful that we are not a socialist or communist country (yet). If you need to have your gratitude refreshed, watch this video (and others from Yoel And Mari) to get their perspective on what it means to become a part of this Land of Plenty after living for 35 years in a communist dictatorship.

Yoel And Mari video (11 mins):
"Eating like COMMUNISTS for 1 Day Challenge! 😭😭 "

From the YouTube blurb:
Watch us as we show you what its like eating like a communist for 1 day. We get this question A LOT and wanted to show you guys hat a typical day is like eating in a communist country like Cuba.
We make these videos for the world to see the realities of food scarcity and rationing - too understand a little more about the world outside capitalism.
We want to thank everyone for their interest in our story and for following our journey- it has not been easy.

If we back up 8 years and before, I'd have voted the political system in Canada over US any day. While I still do vote Canada over US, I am against it politically, as are many others.

I never liked the US system, liked the 'sharing aspect' of Canada.
Never saw the types of amenities and just outright quality in US as in Canada.

I like our libraries, lots of free to use computers. I like our shared, beautiful community centers, pools, both indoor and outdoor.

Didn't find that when I went to various places in US. THE places I went to had often no libraries, no pools.

We just have an abundance of parks not found in US.

The US system was too competitive, dog eat dog for me.

But you're right that socialism, whatever brand we had is going towards fascism.

So, maybe it just doesn't hold the incentives people need.

Even now, I prefer Canada!!
Working to improve it, though.
