Well, this morning has been an exercise in futility. After multiple phone calls I've made zero progress toward finding a dentist who can do something about the tooth the outdoor carpet on the deck broke out when it smacked me in the face Friday. (I didn't realize it cracked a tooth Friday; it fell out Sunday evening.) First (1), I confirmed that "my" dentist didn't want my business anymore (after several years of dentistry & dental visits, crowns etc.), which is what they told me a year and half ago when I declined to switch doctors (again) and use their parallel/partner medical practice. After not returning my call yesterday, this morning they confirmed that the dental services are "only a courtesy we extend to our medical clients." That is sorely disappointing, because the office is only 3-4 blocks from me, and I can get there in five minutes in my wheelchair. (Sigh.) (2) The next-closest dentist in my insurance company's provider list turned out to be a nursing home. "We have no dentists here. This is a nursing home." (3) The next-closest name in the list turned out to be, "We have no dentist by that name here. And we don't accept [insurance name]." (4) The next-closest entry turned out to be a secondary office of (3) — same Dental Group name, same "We don't accept [insurance name]." (5) Not as close, but still doable, and I'm still waiting on a call back after leaving a message. It's noon now, so they probably won't even listen to my message until they get back from lunch at 1:00 or (more likely) 2:00. So I guess I'll find something to drink, and maybe that will temporarily distract my tongue from checking out that gumline rough spot where my tooth used to be … (Sigh.)
