On the subject of Abortion
Any discussion of abortion and abortion "rights" should always contain language about the matter of obligations and responsibilities to include the spern donor.
There is merit to a given womans argument that men (the fathers of the unwanted babies) get off (pun intended) with little or no sense of obligation to the mother and child that HE created. The sperm donor made the woman a mother and she is understandably profoundly harmed by being abandoned with "his" baby.
If and or when we attempt to manage the abortion problem - the system should aggressively go after the sperm donors - each and every individual one - and legally force them to at the very least give child support and to share in covering the costs of prenatal care, the birthing of the baby and the babies development and education until emancipation occurs.
It is sad commentary on the men (sperm donors) that they have to be legally compelled to live up to a standard of moral obligation to their own progeny. Nevertheless it must be done.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I couldn't agree more, although I would substitute the word father for each instance in which you used the term sperm donor. After all, part of the problem is with the use of such terms. Calling the father a sperm donor adopts language that minimizes the fact that he is more than just a sperm donor; he actually is a father and, as such, he has the obligations of a father. Period.
At any rate, I am with you all the way on this issue, and I am very glad that you raised it.

In general I don't disagree, but until he actually provides and cares for the upbringing of that child, he remains, JUST the sperm donor.
@tracycoyle No, at least in my view, he remains the father. He is just a lowlife, deadbeat, absentee, dirtbag of a father who refuses to take on his obligations and responsibilities.
