I've just been mentally "water boarded" by my electric company!

I needed to obtain a work order so that our connection to power can be shut off, wire replaced, and power reconnected. It took me an hour and a half, listening non-stop to their promos and instructions for this, that and the next thing. THEN I was disconnected, never did get a human. I need the work order number to proceed. So.... another hour of listening to their continuous loop messaging in order to speak to a rep. The rep. didn't want to give me the number until we'd had the line inspected pre-work. I finally convinced her to give me a number, provided our electrician's contact info, and said he was arranging both inspections.

My brain is now fried!! but I do have a work order number.

This is why Agorism - Black and Counter Markets exist. Fuck their work-orders and permits. You can find someone to do the work without their bullshit.

Not possible. To replace the line into the house from the meter requires the power to be shut off, line replaced, then power re-established. That line is quickly degrading and must be replaced. Tell me how black market could shut the line off temporarily?

@toronto_Georgia the Black Market is made up of people with skills (the same people who work for the utilities often) willing to work outside the lines. If you approach them individually, especially if they're union*, and ask, "Hey, I have a project that needs to be done by those who don't respect the petty tyrants in government. Do you know who we can reach out to? We'll be paying cash...."

"Customer Service" these days seems to have become an aggressive opposite with every single company anyone deals with. Are they already in the Great Reset and just laughing at us?

I just had a similar experience trying to get my Dell laptop repaired. So much for technology and customer service.

My heart is out to you! We dealt with a similar issue from our electric co-op and that was just to get upgrade to 200A, we were constantly blowing the fuse. If you remember Green Acres and you can only plug in certain number items at certain times together, I think it was no more than a 7, so you could not plug in a number 6 and a number 2 at the same time or poof! We have 2 houses, a barn, an outbuilding that houses washer dryer freezer and incubator.

We finally got them out here after living with 100A service for better than 15 years. When they did it, we had/made them install a 800Amp multibox with four 200A services. We had to buy that equipment, and thankfully the electrician and the power co. engineer had worked together before and were lodge buddies or something....They replaced the telephone power pole at the same time too, and seemed happy to have that off their to do list I guess, and trimmed some trees back from the lines while power was down and put a much larger capacitor (I guess its called) on the new pole.

They started early one day before it got hot and were done before noon, and was I ever so grateful to have fully functioning air and could run some other things that afternoon. But we are still going off line off grid LOL because as much as the power is down and we use the generator, we will just move into solar, wind, batteries; and if we have to run the generator to charge the batteries once in awhile, so what, we are running the generator anyhow as it is 😉 We survived over 3 weeks here without on line power from an ice storm and had plenty of experience before that in Florida and no power after hurricanes.

So hang in there, it'll get done and get better!!!
