Nuclear war is harmful to children and living things!

The "study" recommends against nuclear war. Brilliant.

The models used were not described. So I ask, are they the same type of models that predicted a massive global warming firestorm by 2015?

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.”  -  HL Mencken.

Not endorsing this, but I think this would be relevant.

@eschatologyguy Interesting that one model fails to account for ocean thermal mass, and they don't realize the importance until they run a model with it included that changed the results to half. What other assumptions have they made of which they remain unaware of the contribution of those assumptions?

The problem with models is that they reflect the attitudes and biases of the modeler. In 2005, well-intentioned climate modelers predicted New York City and half of Florida under water in 5 years.

Later, using the false assumption that CO2 is a powerful greenhouse gas, other models predicted atmospheric changes called a firestorm on Earth by 2015. The fact that it did not happen reflects the fact that the assumption about CO2 is wrong because methane and water vapor are about ten times greater effect as greenhouse gasses, and are almost 1000 times more plentiful.

If CO2 were as dangerous a greenhouse gas as they assume, and we know methane and water vapor are 1000 to 10,000 times more powerful at magnifying the sun's energy, the Earth would already be a smoking ruin.

Rationalizations can seem to prove almost anything. But extrapolations are far worse as reasonable decision-making tools.
