Democracy is idiocracy. A democracy will always devolve into monkey socialism.

That's not to say that there are not problems with a republic based on classical liberal democracy. It's just more likely a liberal democracy will be meritocratic.

Little wonder the productive members of any society would hate meritless socialism.
