Food for thought: Does anyone know where a true homeless person (who is not a drug addict, alcoholic) gets most of the help to survive on the streets? Most all of you do not want to hear the truth.
Not from churches, nor church leaders, nor non-profits, or government shelter programs.
My wife and i recieved the most help from those who would buy us dinner to hear our story of what caused our homelessness, how we survived, what was it like, and what we thought could help us if there was any at all.
Most these people would start helping us on a weekly basis, sometimes more, a college girl once paid for a prescription i needed when i was very ill.
When people got to know us, they would come around just to help and ask how we were doing, and even give us cash for personal items, etc..
After getting to know us they even admitted they would rather give us the cash and other help personally because they realized that their tax dollars, donations, churches, and shelters were not helping anyone living directly on the streets.
The one question that that was hard for them to hear us answer, one woman even started crying, because she then knew that no matter what she could do for us, that is where we would be.
That question that everyone asked us was what could they personally do to help get us off those streets and out of the parks and to get us into homes?
Our answer was always the same..... We told them we did not know, we don't even know what could work, everything is only temporary in this world, you truely own nothing, and in our position it is better not to have anything.
Though my wife's sister had done a miraculously great thing getting us off the streets 10 years ago, took about $3000 to set us up on a apartment for 3 months paid up front, got us new clothes, furniture, ID's, helped get food stamps, etc... She is now realizing it may be in vain, because if your disabled, your on a fixed income, and rents just keep going up $50 to$100 at the end of every lease, at this point rent and bills take up about 90% of our ssi, and retirement. We are almost ready to move out of a home again, knowing that sooner or later it is inevitable.
Back to that question, it's the same with all the true homeless, none of them are eligible for government programs, even if they get them in a home or apartment and get them a minimum wage job, how long will it last when the rents continue to go up... Up.... Up, but your income gets cut... Cut... Cut its a vicious cycle and even those true people that do help personally and get to know homeless people, know if they get them off the streets they will probably be back on the streets with in a year.
I will end this with
One group of people have more then it all, while the majority will continue to suffer, because tax payers believe that their leaders they elect will help, they trust that their goverment won't send over 40 billion dollars to another country to murder people and help those here in this country, these tax payers believe their taxers are helping the homeless, they believe their church leaders and the non-profits and shelters are helping the homeless. All their tax dollars do is hide the homeless from the public eye, that's what the police used to tell us when we were on the streets, out of sight, out of mind, or you will be ticketed and go to jail.
So last words, enjoy the money you have because you say you have been blessed, you earned it, and everybody poverty stricken and homeless put themselves there, as you age, there is a 50 50 chance you will end up there too.
My wife and i had it all from a accident settlement, then had it all taken away for taxes and child support owed to the state, they will get your money one way or another, they will indebt you, so you all owe money continuously, we know, it happened to us. Let God have mercy on all of us.

The difference between a socialist and a true liberal is that a socialist expects the government or some other agency to help those in need, while a true liberal is personally liberal with his own means, helping directly those about him who are in dire strait. God expects us to be generous with our time, our shelter and our stuff toward those who have need of them. I have also taken that to heart and endeavored to assist others who are homeless through circumstance not related to addiction or mental illness.

For every dollar given to most charities, less than 10 cents gets to the people it's meant to help!
