Got cut off from Facebook during a private FaceTime chat with a good friend. We were talking about state of the world and our worries. Normal conversation between two long-standing friends. She in Vancouver. Me in Wellington New Zealand. Our conversation migrated to islamism. Radicalism in al it’s forms and our preoccupation and worries. We are both mothers. We were talking about our hopes and dreams for the future and for our kids. We got cut off in a weird way. Not in a way that I am familiar with when connection gets dodgy. And in such a way we could each not establish reconnection. It was just black. We both wondered if we used words like “Islamist” “radical left” “radicalization” “idiology” “I intersectionslism” etcetera too much. We both had an eary feeling about it. Wondering if if not “some one” than at least an “algorythm” is listening in on our conversations. As a respond to that I reconsidered my use of Messenger and decided to maybe look at other options like WhatsApp in stead of FaceBook Messenger. What I learned just now is that WhatsApp is also owned by FaceBook as is Instagram and a few more. I am not a person who sees “conspiracy” or “big brother” in anything. I live with the paradigm that if you live a reasonable and truthful life and have nothing to hide you’ll be fine. The creepy feeling I have is getting worse however... Any reactions/ advise?
