That it's going to come back and haunt them.

I agree.

I have watched almost every minute of public hearings in the House Intelligence and Judiciary hearings about the impeachment. I've also watched all of the Senate Impeachment hearings. Yeah I'm retired so I have a lot of time on my hands. I've watched it all on either PBS or CSPAN. I've learned or observed the following:

  1. I was very naive about impeachment. It is all about politics. I actually thought it was about whether the President broke the law and endangered our country when he broke the law.
  2. A lot of US citizens are not familiar with general court proceedings and basic fundamental rights
  3. The power of the media. Again I've been naive. Many times after I watched a hearing I would run across a writeup or clip from ABC, NBC, CBS and think I don't remember it that way. In a lot of those instances I actually re-watched the original source again just to affirm that I wasn't going senile. I guess it's all in the lens of the viewer.
  4. The importance of the internet as a repository for information which can be used to provide checks and balances on the media.
