Before the federal reserve existed, there were relatively steady fluctuations in the value of the dollar. Since then, the dollar lost 98 percent of its 1913 value. Inflation undermines the incentive to save. It is saving money, not spending, that drives the economy. I'd like to see the dollar tied to gold and the federal reserve bank abolished.
