I would make a distinction however about who and what it is that "news media" are hostile toward.
What they hate more than anything is We the People, The Bill of Rights, Free Market Capitalism, Religion/God especially Christianity.
Trump is the peoples champion of all those things and so he is the focus of the contempt and hatred spewed every hour by the "news media".
Like Trump said - attacks against him coming from "news media" are really attacks against the American People themselves.

I agree with all of those with the exception of religion, and not all Americans are religious. I myself am openly anti-christian (I'm anti any religion though), and I voted for Trump and will do so again.
Also, over the years I have observed the mainstream media sources give plenty of air time to stories centered around religion, and especially to judaism and christianity.
