Thoughts on this? I think it's absurd to say the least.

Woke WalMart introduces pronoun buttons for workers...

Answering a question nobody asked, Walmart has introduced pronoun buttons for employees to purchase and wear.

Another step in the implementation of an ideology.

WalMart lost me with their firearms policy some time ago.

If no one "asked" for them, surely they would not spend the money to make such voluntary accessories.

We'll see...

I think it's more likely to make customers feel uncomfortable, I'd much rather ask for help from someone with normative pronouns rather than walk the minefield of trying not to slip up mid speech.

Also seems likely that it's just going to cause more customer interaction issues when customers do eventually get it wrong when they either don't notice the button, don't read it, or don't care.

Just planting more mines to step on.

I understand that certain people wish to be addressed by/from others in a manner that suits their preferences. But unfortunately, these types of people are seemingly oblivious and inconsiderate to the fact that others have been likely exposed and conditioned to respond in ways that may be different from their(the cry babies) expectations. That's why it seems as if today's liberals are unwittingly exposing themselves as double standard hypocrites when it comes to pushing the mass acceptance agenda.

When Walmart gets the pronouns under control, maybe they can help Starbucks deal with actual names....

Why is this something to be outraged about? The only reason to be bothered by this is if you inherently believe that these people don’t deserve that basic respect even in a passive way. They aren’t forcing anyone to do anything.

@bg10kexcept for the fact that they can attack you and sue you and generally make your life a living hell for having offended them whether or not you ever had or expressed malintent toward them.

@iThink Yeah but people can kind of always do that. I’m not a fan of the bad-faith interpretation that this enables the common person to be sued and attacked by their less common contemporaries.

That's a fair point. They aren't forcing anything and on the face of it, looks like harmless inclusion.
In practice this may work out a bit differently (making participants targets for those who disagree, innocent mistakes resulting in verbal conflict, etc.), and the workplace is an irresponsible place to start a practice that hasn't even been properly integrated in the public sphere.

No outrage from me, I just think it was absurd.

Walmart doesn't seem to know their customers.

Should we be surprised? I'm not.

when was the last time you went to your nearest Wal-mart...I would say they know their customer base quite well. LOL

@iThink in my state the customers are definitely not woke.

Follow this dictum and don't worry. "Be Civil to all, known by many and close to few". I seldom address anyone by any pronoun or even name if I can help it. We have a coo coo's nest (see movie) culture and just gettig more coo coo every day.

That it is.
