Unemployment claims hit 6.6 million. It's officially worse than the Great Recession-
[reason.com]

More than 6.6 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits in the week ending March 28. That's a record-breaking number of unemployment claims for the second week in a row, and way more than analysts were projecting for last week.

The actual number of claims was "more than double the estimate of 3.1 million analysts expected," points out CNBC correspondent Eamon Javers. "The American job market is in free fall."

You're adding to the alarmists false information. How about getting the "percentages" of the numbers in the great depression versus what's happening today.

The only thing I added was a link to an article that was not mine, and one that I necessarily didn't agree with. Just because I share something, does not automatically mean I agree with it.

@SpikeTalon If you don't necessarily agree with it, why not say that, or better yet, provide the numbers in percentages of the population back then, versus now.

@Conservative I have already mentioned that in the past and don't care to repeat myself as most of those who I interact with daily on here are aware of such. It is up to the reader to make up his/her mind on the matter.

My question is what is worse, 20 to 50 thousand (MAX) dead from the "KUNG-FLU" or millions dead from the collapse of the world economy??
Remember what followed the 1929 collapse, Hilter, Mussolini, Toyo, and Stalin!!!
Do we bite the bullet and get back to work or WHAT????

On a positive note and some misplaced humor, I can imagine the porn site industry is probably on the upswing getting more user traffic with males being cooped up. Hell, at the moment I couldn't think of anything else to offer to the conversation. I live in the south and I'm feeling like it's the calm before the storm down this way. I think the cova virus is going to soon consume this area because alot of people are dismissive about the stay at home orders.

The financial impact of growing number of unemployed people indefinitely, with all the problems it entails in the long run, WILL be greater than the few lives saved at the cost of shutting down the economy. More lives will be lost to the hunger, homelessness, social unrest,...

IMHO, you may be dead on, no pun intended!!!
The social unrest could lead to changes we don't want or need!!
How many of our Constitutional rights are being trampled on RIGHT NOW, to protect us from the "KUNG- FLU"??
Who is going to protect us from the people running these 'Shut Downs"???
