Coal mine sites could be utilised and converted to vast “water storage” systems and “picturesque lakes” to help solve the nation’s ‘water security issue,’ according to Hunter Valley Lakes Corporation Director Greg Story.

This could work, but a few issues, planning, reforestation, should begin at the beginning of the project, careful consideration given to toxic tailings created, top soil storage are reuse, water drainage plans to guarantee water supply for the eventual lake.
