President Trump said on Monday that Attorney General William P. Barr would depart next week.
Barr was a Trump warrior but he walked a very fine line between a political servant and professional integrity.
He’s a good man!
And therein lies the problem. Barr never learned to appreciate the importance of keeping the Justice Dept. independent, to uphold the rule of law and to put country before loyalty to a president. He repeatedly aided the president in punishing his political enemies and rewarding his political friends, which shouldn't happen. Because of it he was unable to save his professional integrity. At some point he realized that Trump had gone too far. By then it was too late. History will not judge him kindly.
