LINK Nancy Pelosi Says 16-Year-Olds Should Vote | C-SPAN.org

Are most American 16 year olds informed and experienced enough to vote?
Please answer with rationale and your thoughts on Nancy Pelosi's view that this is good because children this age are learning about civics in school.

I’m think it would be fine to have 16 year olds vote. I don’t see why that would be to the advantage of Democrats.

I think Candice Owens would deliver the majority of the youts to the GOP...Black & White.

Maybe I’m wrong, they may instead be impressed by AOC and vote, like, Democrat or like, whatever.

Re:Allowing 16-year-olds to vote in a general election: I think the argument that 16-year-olds are too stupid to vote (because tide pods, etc.) is an argument that will backfire on those who make it. These young people will get to voting age and they will remember that Republicans said they were stupid.
I don't want 16-year-olds to vote because they are still in the midst of their socialist indoctrination in HS and will pull the lever for Socialist Democrats. That is why the Democrats are adamant. They can't seem to win with the current voters so this is just another way, along with non-citizen voters, to build up their new constituency and win.

Lol, please do !

Pelosi can't figure out which bathroom is for who. She wants open borders and a flood of ILLEGALS are coming in. Of course she wants 16 YEAR olds to vote. She thinks that the state should own all the kids, that would mean she can decide for them how they should vote. That woman is a dragon!

Originally only landowners voted. They had skin in the game.

And 16 yrs olds definitely have no skin in the game while living with guardians or parents, not paying taxes, or being self-sufficient. As stated below, most 21 yr olds haven't been self-sufficient, but if we're sending them off to fight our wars, they should at least have a vote on whom is sending them.

What where you doing at 16 ? Yeah me too. This is a dumb idea.

I read a very funny article that now seems to have been blocked called [bluepillsheep.com] - the comments were from people about what they were doing as 16 year olds and some from the mothers and teachers of 16 year olds. Obviously Nancy Pelosi has not been around any 16 year olds - except maybe her great grand children who were on their best behaviour around Great Grandma..Didn't she, along with Al Gore , also endorse kids skipping school on Fridays so they can go out and advocate for Climate Change? She is as out of tune with 16 year olds as she is with most working Americans. Some of my favourite comments "I am 20 and I still ask my parents who I should vote for and why" and "Nancy, please come and teach my 16 years students for one hour - you'll rethink your comments!" and "My 16 year old doesn't even understand the concept that his parents run the household and you want him to vote for who runs the country?"

One sure and certain (in my mind anyway) fix for this Republic, is to allow only Heads of Household, 30 to 80 years old, and not on any dole other than the forced SS they paid into, to vote.

But Pandora's box has been opened, and there is no going back this time around.

Even at 21 most people haven't experienced "life". I know people say if you are old enough to go off to war you are old enough to vote - fine - let the enlisted active military vote. They have earned it. Joe Blow sitting at home with his WIC card has not. But yes, Pandora has been let loose.

@HollyLouise Good point. Any male or female who pays for more than half of the household expenses. No necessary dependents, can be married or unmarried---different than IRS H of H.

What 16 year old, wholly or largely dependent on their parent(s), is exposed to even half the subject matter they’d be voting on? It’s one thing to read/learn about it in school—entirely another to have knowledge based on experience. Terrible idea.

And let's face it, in school, and even in college, the peo[le teaching them are teaching them their biased viewpoints. Unfortunately, the majority seem to be liberal-oriented.

I don't believe some one who has always been looked after and never had to support themselves or work full time job would have any idea what they must do to support a family they have only learning of teachers and thier parents so their views would be very bias

Most adults are willing to admit that they were irresponsible, ignorant, a bit insane, impulsive, subject to peer pressure, hormonal and confused at that age. No way in hell should they vote.

3

If Pelosi really believes sixteen year olds are mature enough to cast a vote, then I really believe she is senile...

She doesn't really believe they are mature enough to vote. She believes they are Democrats.
