It's not always possible to perceive our own progress accurately. Sometimes it feels like we're punching a brick wall, but then it could be we're doing better than that, but it's not yet obvious. Cultural change doesn't happen gradually or overtly. It bubbles away in silence for a long time and you never know if it's getting hotter or colder; but then you get an explosive transformation and realize that you actually traversed a long distance without knowing it. Thanks for the excellent question!
