Amazon would still have to pay taxes, they were going to get a tax rebate. In exchange for hiring 25 thousand employees, funding schools and parks and some sort of training program. Their employees would have to pay tax, construction workers would have jobs while building the HQ2 and Amazon would have to pay for other services. It was a win win for NY. All we had to do is let them keep 3 billion. No money out of our pocket. It was state tax not federal!

@RickKnight1 , these potential employees will be created "ex nihilo" by Amazon or imported from abroad? or these people are already working for some employer in the USA?
i assume that they are working already and paying their taxes and their employers also paying their taxes - in comparison to Amazon (there are not many companies who could afford not to pay taxes in the US).

yes, but government intervention is not the smartest way to do something valuable for society. so contrary to her intentions, she did something not that bad (it was not AOC, it's not her level, but left-crazy Dems in the state of NY)
