Space is a destination so it is reachable. The world's problems are not a destination but are created by people, so the only way to solve the problems is to get rid of the people. If you are truly serious I'll let you go first.

No. Lack of funding is not the cause of most of the social/economic problem we have.

No. That argument was made against the space program in the 1960s and 1970s.

Our various "new technologies" are ALL downstream consequences from it. Our tech and our economy could both use a shot in the arm.

Spend the money. Solve the problems. Create new technologies. Become even more prosperous.

Yes, not hard for me to arrive to that conclusion.
