Hi Ian! I'm 71, & a recent transplant from Seattle area to a horse/cow ranching small town in the middle of Arizona. Raised a Christian in the Conservative Baptist Church, but now not into church. Religion is mostly problematic for me but I think I still believe in a Higher Power, just unsure how to relate to a God that is (in) "everything and everyone".
Politically started as Democrat. Voted straight Dem tickets most of my life until I woke up to the truth of the Dem party two days before the 2016 election. Hillary's lies caused me to flip to the Trump side. Currently I'm registered Independent because, like my relationship with God, I'm undecided. But am definitely conservative in views. Probably always was and didn't know it.

I left something out. I'm not religious at all now.

I'm Canadian too, pushing 50. I was raised Catholic, but now I'm a dope-smoking rock'n'roll atheist, I'm a grown man with long hair and earrings.
I have all my liberal credentials. I have a degree in Philosophy. I am concerned that our industrial activities might be having a detrimental effect on the planet's environment. I believe in a woman's right to choose to have an abortion up to about the third trimester after I which I feel the state has an obligation to help out. I believe in fierce gun control, but have no problem with legal ownership. I'm a software geek who is concerned about corporate control of our information - while we were all worried about Big Brother taking over, Big Business came along and scooped up all the data (and we continue to give it to them willingly)! I believe the state has no place in the bedroom of the nation; I couldn't care less who other people are having sex with, as long as they're having it with adults. I don't bother either God or Satan because they don't bother me.
But I also believe in freedom of choice and expression, that's how we attained all those liberal values in the first place. And for that belief alone, I guess that makes me alt-right nowadays. The Overton Window has now shifted so far that the Center is the old Left. I guess I'm Classical Liberal, or to quote Dave Rubin, I'm "Libertarianish".
Politically, I'm parking my vote with Maxime Bernier and The People's Part of Canada next time around.
