There are legitimate 3rd parties---for example Libertarian Party and Constitution Party. No third party will ever have a chance without media access and money. Neither of those items will ever be made available until TPTB decide they need another Ross Perot to swing a vote toward one of the major candidates.

I hope it will but most likely IDW will only strengthen the Republican/Conservative party.

This movement is more of what a honest conversation looks like and to let people know disagreements are ok. We should strive for honest conversations to engage in these difficult conversations.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Maybe, but you have to remember that it is meant as a place where people can have an intellectual and civil discussion about any political topic. It doesn't matter if you're a Dem or Republican.

Right now it could be used as a tool to influence. But, I think it needs a lot more growth to legitimize a third party. Is that even a goal?

I have doubts it will gain enough traction be viable. Although, that being said, the same was expected in terms of UKIP and the Brexit referendum.

I can see this site being huge. Admin have really built something with massive potential here.

While the IDW can't create it on it's own, it can help, as you asked. Creating a third party is something which is needed by many people. Not just a third, but 4th and 5th parties as well. Let's face it, many people have many different views and two parties do nothing. Then again, maybe more parties won't help because if we have 5 or 6 parties and the parties have to trade support on different issues to get what they want, we may end up in the same boat we are in. Money buys votes and the country sinks further into the abyss.

Unfortunately the established party’s have a huge financial advantage. I think a third party will struggle to catch up.
