I believe we need a constitutional convention of the states. I see the need for 2 amendments to the constitution.

  1. Congress shall not be eligible for exemption of any laws passed.
  2. Balanced budget amendment.
Do you agree, and if so, what amendments would you suggest?

We already have term limits. It's called running for reelection.

There must be a convention of states needed.

Here are some amendments in my notes I have to suggest being added to the U.S. Constitution:

  • Prohibit congress from regulating activity that occurs wholly within one state.

  • Prohibit administrative agencies from creating federal law.

  • Prohibit administrative agencies from pre-empting state law.

  • Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a U.S. Supreme Court decision.

  • Require a seven-justice super-majority vote for U.S. Supreme Court decisions that invalidate a democratically enacted law.

  • Restore the balance of power between the federal and state governments by limiting the former to the powers expressly delegated to it in the Constitution.

  • Give state officials the power to sue in federal court when federal officials overstep their bounds.

  • Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a federal law or regulation.

  • Congress shall enact no law that does not apply equally to all Americans.

I also believe there should be some amendments that deal with voter fraud, repealing the 16th and 17th amendments, and reversing some Supreme Court decisions that have harmed America.

Return election of U.S. Senators to state legislatures where it belongs. Making them subject to popular vote was a mistake.

Definitely term limits...

I think term limits will have the opposite effect - people elected in will know that they only have a short time to line their pockets, so the greed and corruption will only get worse, not better.

@jondspen Maybe so, but still they'd have a limited amount of time and hopefully the citizens would raise hell in the meantime...

@jondspen No.... it would severely limit there corruption. Because, they would be voted OUT before being elected again. And who needs a corrupt Politician staying in office for decades and then leave with a Pension for life.

@SpikeTalon Do you really think it would matter? I mean, look at families like the Kennedyes and the Bushes. Nepotism and cronyism are so rampant in the system today - you have more faces coming in and out sure, but they are still family/friends/business partners that will look out for each others interests at the expense of the public. Money is too entrenched into the system today where this would actually have much bearing IMO.

EDIT - that, and you have idiots like AOC coming into the system more often. That is a whole new set of wrenches thrown into the system.

@jondspen I get what your point, it's just that we (we meaning the citizens) should do anything we can to make it more difficult for people like that. Ultimately, we won't know either way for sure unless we tried first...

@SpikeTalon I agree career politicians are a problem, I just don't think it will make as much of an impact that some people believe. You are right though, our systems is so corrupt and bought, it sure couldn't hurt much more beyond today.

@Zbacku That's cute...you actually think voting makes a difference. It's the systems that's corrupt, and corrupts the politicians. The ones with integrity are either pushed out, or marginalized (Ron Paul for example).
