I have voted yes, but I have respect for those like Rand Paul, who have voted against the emergency. If the congress wasn't such a petty, ridiculous shit-show the emergency declaration wouldn't be necessary. Of course that assumes that the old guard GOP and Democrats had any interest in securing the border in the first place, and not just using it as a campaign and fund raising ploy, like they have for decades.

I wish we had a functional Congress that worked FOR the people. Instead, we have a hostile circus. The southern border is basically a hole in the boat for a long time. We have stuck gum in it for years, but it's been a steady leak. With caravans headed for our country, the leak became a flow that gum can't fix. The financial toll this has taken on our country is unimaginable. The healthcare, our social safety nets, schools, hospitals, crime, jails, justice system etc. Look at the sanctuary cities and you will see cities not adhering to the law and they are near collapse. We have no idea who is entering this country and we have enemies that could be very dangerous. Just a small amount of fentanyl can kill thousands of people if it is purposed for that. They don't need planes to attack anymore.
Yes, it's an emergency and frankly, if our elected officials are not willing to back the president in national security, we have a useless constitution and a treasonous government. Maybe we no longer deserve this great country. A change is upon us, I have never seen a Congress like this or a country so eager to embrace socialism. Once our voting system is compromised, its anybody's guess....

Over 600 crossing arrests a day is probably a fraction of actual crossers. How is it not an emergency?

He is the only president to have the balls to do what we have all been thinking. We have to start somewhere and this is a physical wall to make sure people go to the right place for transition.

I support Trump on increasing border security but I wish he could have got the money a different way. It just blows my mind that the democrats aren’t supporting him on border security.

Yes! A state of emergency has existed on our Southern border for decades, despite what the leftists would have you believe. I lived on the border in Southwest Texas in the 70s and the porosity was alarming. A whole lot of nothing has been done in the meantime as incursions have accelerated far faster than the growth of the defending agencies. It's long overdue that someone in a position of power do something, anything, to address the issue. The biggest reason the left wants to open the border is to buy votes, much like most of what the left does.

I'm in California. Most definitely. Mexicans have embraced hating America we with complete immunity from the Democrats

My fear is that when there is a Democratic president and he or she wants to take guns away, that person can declare an emergency and proceed. They would try it.

It’s not a national emergency when it comes to our guns . And they can’t tkae our guns because that’s how civil war breaks out . And I’m pretty sure our troops will be on our side and will stand down .

You're right; they could try it, but it would never come to fruition. There was a day (only one day) before the election when Hillary made an anti-gun ownership statement, and folks thought there was a good chance she would the next POTUS. During that 24 hour-period, American citizens legally purchased more firearms and ammo than currently possessed by the entire U.S. Marine Corps. They couldn't collect them if they tried.

No. I'm very disappointed with how President Trump has handled this whole thing, but declaring a National Emergency is an overreach of executive power, and just paves the way for even more egregious abuses by future Presidents.

I absolutely support the wall, period. But why didn't he get the money authorized when Republicans had a majority in both the House and the Senate? I understand that a lot of establishment Republicans worked against him those first two years (RINO resistance seems to be diminishing as President Trump continues to perform well in office), but was resistance so stout that he couldn't even attempt to get the wall funded? I think he would have had a better chance getting funding from a Republican controlled House than he did from the Democrat controlled House.

And then he completely bungled the shutdown. That was a golden public relations opportunity to show Americans that Democrats were refusing to negotiate, and he failed miserably. After he signed the 3 week continuing resolution, he should have been on TV every single day, calling Pelosi out: "You said you wouldn't negotiate while the government is shut down, Democrats, so I opened the government. Why aren't you willing to negotiate now? Three weeks is running out. Tick tock."

He should have given speeches from right on the open border, showing the open terrain behind him, and clubbed the American public over the head with that message for the entire three weeks. Every. Single. Day.

It was a golden opportunity to show Americans where the Democrats real priorities are, and he missed it entirely.

I still believe adamantly that we need a wall, but I absolutely hope this "National Emergency" ploy gets shutdown. I don't want to have to foot the bill when the next Democrat President decides the Medicare-for-all, or college degrees for all, is a "National Emergency."

The degree of RINOs is much larger then you think. California has no Republican Party

What sucks is republicans don’t no how to speak to the public. If that makes sense. And I agree he should have been on Palocy the hole time . Not that way though that’s gross.

Yes, illegals are crossing our border in record numbers.

2

It’s a gambit ...
Is it likely to be allowed to stand?
If one looks honestly at the damage being done, it is indeed a National Emergency.
On the other hand, it is certainly exposing A LOT of Politicians for the lying hypocrites They are.
Even those who prefer NOT to engage are getting dragged into it.

Many states apparently are allowing illegal immigrants to vote in elections. This will quickly destroy the US. There may still be time to slow the problem--and it involves closing the border.
