“The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” - Winston Churchill

One of the things people fail to realize is the old adage "Those who refuse to learn from the past are condemned to repeat it" is pretty much true. Churchill realized this as the Nazi's were rising to power. History holds the lessons of what works, what doesnt and what to avoid in the future. Looking back over the history of man at the wonderous ideas that were turned into horror. The Greek ideals of education and philosophy destroyed by the City-State. The Roman Republic reduced by political corruption into an Ogliarchy under the Ceasars. The lives of countless free tribal peoples destroyed by religion, greed and power seekers. Fanaticism, Fascism, Totalitarianism, Socialism and Communism and the millions dead under them.

And yet here we see the past coming back to haunt us again and again. Until we utterly destroy the causes these effects will keep coming back and idiots will call for them once more. The human race's inability to get passed these things are what will doom us to extinction. And now the sick siren song of Socialism rises in the American Air. We live in a world of near infinite information but very little knowledge. Of endless parades of both positive and negative data with no compunction to try and figure out which is which. Of billions of opinions but with little to no wisdom. Constant reminders that a mind is a terrible thing to waste...but you have to have one to waste to begin with. That feelings are more important than facts and the facts are whatever someone wants them to be. Truth...is now relegated only to "Haters" like me.

I have sought to entertain my mind by watching myriads of videos, as many of us do. Seeking out those that demonstrate the levels of stupidity and depravity this worst generation ever constantly displays. Just as in the old days of Vaudeville, The Keystone Cops, Laurel and Hardy, The 3 Stooges etc... Its all about "SlapStick!" We watch people doing things so stupid and we laugh at them. Its entertaining. I am as guilty, if not more so, than most. I simply cannot help it. Displays of such depths of seriously honest stupidity fascinate me.

But the growing trend has gone from people doing stupid things for a laugh to just doing stupid things. Like eating laundry detergent gel packs, snorting condoms, cutting off their genitals and getting out of moving cars in traffic to dance. This is beyond stupid. But what really gets me is these idiots think they're smarter than everyone else. From some of the candid videos I've seen these kids cannot operate a Rotary phone, Use a can opener, navigate using a map without GPS, drive a manual shift car, cut a piece of wood in a straight line using a hand saw, Open a bottle of coke with a bottle opener, sharpen a knife, even using a knife sharpener, change a flat tire, calculate a 15% tip in their heads if they even tip at all, chop wood or start a fire, understand what is or is not against the law. They cannot even grasp that using fascist attacks against people you think are fascist is, indeed, fascist! These are not difficult concepts but, for the stupid, they are simply impossible to fathom.

Many people seem to believe these fools will wipe themselves out. Sadly society over the years has created the environment that spawns these brain dead zombies and it has installed safeguards to not only protect them but convince them they are right and everyone else is wrong. This is the Zombie Apocalypse people. And the "Infected" are our own kids, grand kids and great grand kids. Systematically dumbed down, force fed liberalism, indoctrinated to socialism and pushed out with a mandate to destroy everything while remaining dependent on the state for everything including marching orders. Anyone not part of it is the enemy. Even some who are part of it...are the enemy. Even the very parents who's roof they live under, food they eat and money they sponge...are the enemy. And we are meant to feel sorry for them? Sorry?

If you want Sympathy look between Shit and Syphilis in the Dictionary. Provided, of course, you know how to use one and are willing to accept the definition found there.

I have a strange though, maybe this is how nature keeps us from over populating the world. Where would we be if everyone born in the 20th century only died of old age?

It is quite possible that one or some of the 150 million people slaughtered in the 20th Century, might have had a solution to the question you pose....had they lived.... just a thought.

@goosepop That could also be true of anyone of the millions killed in all the centuries before the 20th.

@goosepop Another thought, What if the person that has the answers to the problems in the world is being Aborted somewhere in the USA, as I write this!!!!!!

There seems to be an underlining health epidemic as well that I feel doesn't get enough credit. Not just obesity or mental health problems but it seems as though the capacity to take care of ourselfs and even know what a healthy body is or how to keep it up has been turned out of fashion.

In part because judging people too harshly is rude and being shallow (aka being attracted to healthy human beings) makes you a bad person. So this has taught us to discount our preferences to verying degrees when seaking a romantic partner.

While there should be some leeway, taking too much focus off preference has also taken focus off being healthy and striving to better ourselfs. We are told to have high standards but taught to discount our own preferences as if that's not really the same thing. It's confusing to come full circle just to relize seeking a healthy mate is in our genetics.

It creates this barrier between natural selection and dating. An unhealthy environment for those that are more desirable, being put on a pedestal while at the same time tearing them down incase they start to think they are better than other people. I've seen this in men as well as woman, and it may be a symptom of how heavily we objectify them in the media but this I'm unsure of.

On top of that it seems to me like a lot of the ergonomics they are trying to sell us do more harm than good. Not sure whether that is duplicitous or ignorance. It takes the confusion about health and further moves any consept we have of a baseline out of sight.

With such unhealthy bodys and minds it's no wonder intelligent thought is thrown out the window. Hope that wasn't too far off point, it all seems to line up to me.

You don't want the masses educated, just placated.

Just read a story on the latest crop of historical figures to be eliminated from the Texas History rubric. Among them, Francis Scott Key, General Patton and John Hancock, just to name a few. I can’t wrap my brain around it. Why would any developed society want to limit their access to knowledge? Hell, why would ANY society want to?!

Without plunging too far down the rabbit hole, the only thing that adds up is exactly what you mentioned, with the birth of socialism and its eventual transition to communism. Limit the population’s access to knowledge and you have ultimate control. Free thought is stifled without the fuel to question your surroundings. Terrifying to see people flocking toward this, willingly.

@MADcHATTER Truth! Humans are complex! No one can survive this sort of scrutiny and we have become willing to throw out the baby with the bath water, so to speak. There is a duality that exists in every human whereby we are capable of of achieving great things while simultaneously giving into our inner demons.

@My belief is that only one human, Christ, was prefect. Even his 12 closest friends had issues.

Over the years I've developed a sort of sympathetic contempt for humanity, meaning I can sympathize with the hardships some go through but admittedly have some disdain for those who don't learn from past mistakes and in the process possibly negatively impacting the lives of others due to ignorance. I'm reminded of my favorite quote- you can only see as far as you think...

Great quote!
