I will be doing what I can to invite more from the other side of the aisle...I'm hearing more echos than pushback. I think part of the deal is working through difficult issues with those that don't agree with us. Maybe I'm just not seeing it?

I'm pretty sure people are initially just getting a feel for this sight. I have seen a little back and forth on ideas,as well as a small amount of name calling. For the most part I believe people are trying to be respectful. Unfortunately it almost seems as though we have to relearn how to communicate because we have run up against so many brick walls in recent years and have become frustrated. I believe there is also a little fear that the site could turn into just another Twitter or something so people are being a little overly cautious.

Go to Agnostic.com - it is a leftist fruit cake party there. Be warned, you will not engage in intellectual discussion. They will post some view, you can respond with facts and an opposing opinion, then you will be personally attacked and called all kinds of insults.

Agnostic.com, what's that??? 😉

If there wasn’t such a “Hard Line” between one group and another it might be possible to look for ... at least some ... level of compromise but there is that line.
I have some very intelligent friends (and acquaintances) but regardless of any logic or debate tactic used they simply aren’t interested in looking at another viewpoint. If I try to meet them halfway on anything, they take it as a victory for “their side” and continue to refuse to budge from their point of view.
On any Government or Social topic it’s simply people talking past each other. If they can’t come up with a current reason, they’ll reach as far back into the past as necessary to throw a-reason on the table. In fact, in many cases they’ll cite information that they KNOW ... or at least KNEW ... is false but tell me about “new studies” or “new information” from garbage sources and tell me to refute it ... but if I try to honestly refute it ... even to citing sources that they respect ... they tell me my information is faulty or that I’m outright lying.
While I too am not really happy with this Echo Chamber effect, I’m of the opinion that IF people with the alternate views find their way here, it will just be a matter or Snarc, Sarcasm, Trolling and being told that we don’t have any idea WHAT We’re Talking about ...
It’s gotten to the point where, if I (or people like minded) don’t agree completely with them ... I’m accused of being a Brain-dead, Trailer Court, Toothless “Deplorable” who is totally in love with that “Racist Clown, Trump” ...

I agree - with the internet today, there is no excuse a reasonable person can not find the left, right, and center side of any argument. Sometimes all sides are valid, just different perspectives or experiences, or expectations, but usually - the far left and right are following indoctrination, and the moderate center gets attacked by both sides. It's very disheartening....

Possibly...I hope that such behavior can be called out without disrespect. It isn't that hard to convince each other we're right though. A diversity of thought is a reality and needs to be addressed. We need to learn how to have those conversations.

I think we should get as many whomevers as possible, I believe the initial popularity here is from the people who feel betrayed by the current social media/ MSM so as in everything the pendulum will swing towards the middle. Especially when I see classic libs and even self ascribed socialists scattered around.

I think that is a great idea, but lets be honest ... some things are non-negotiable, like free speech, freedom of association. Without those two you have no room for discussion or debate.

I'm actively trying to recruit more of those who'd have opposing views to the majority on this site.
