Who in this group are avid readers and what are you currently reading. My current book is killer: a journal of murder, Carl Panzram. It's brutally series of events and how dark you can be.
Currently reading Unquiet: A Novel by Linn Ullmann. I have always enjoyed her father's (Ingmar Bergman) films and picked up this book after enjoying The Cold Song. It reads more like a personal memoir of her life growing up visiting her father every summer on his island off the Swedish coast. Towards the end of his life she returns to the island to tape a series of conversations with him. So far I am liking the feel of the novel more than the novel itself. There's a strong presence of the sea and perhaps just the imagery from some of his movies is what frames my thoughts while reading this one. But it's definitely interesting to have a glimpse of some of the unique characteristics of Bergman's every day life. She talks about how her father would have this film showing every day at 2:50 in his barn and everyone was expected to be there.
I'm rereading one of my favorite series from high school, The Sword of Truth. The writing is less sophisticated than I remember, but it retains its power. Also, the strong conservative messaging is much more blatant than I remembered from back then in the early books. Later in the series, it's much more obvious, what with the villain being a literal communist dictator.
My daughter is going through books like crazy. I wanted to make sure that what she was reading is ok so I read them too. I've gone through the apothecary series as well as the mortal engines series and lived them both.
