I don't blame Mr Brown for deciding to close his store. The Philadelphia soda tax is despicable and has been quite "taxing" on local businesses that sell sugary beverages.

More news of the government causing more problems than they fix. Idiots...

You're polite in using the term "idiot". I could think of far worse names to call them...

@SpikeTalon I work at a distillery in Tennessee. I didn't know this b4, but a bottle of whisky (not really whisky, since the state has absurd process rules to call it a whisky), moonshine, or any distilled spirit is taxed 4 times before handing to the customer. It's taxed by Federal and State excise tax when it's made (tax #1). Then we have to sell it to a distributor (#2 sales tax). Then that distributor sells it back to us so we can sell it 20ft away from where we make it in a separate building we had to build JUST for retail sales only (so #3 sales tax again - not to mention the extra taxes on the buildings we are now forced to pay). Then it gets sales tax again when we make a sale to the customer (4th tax). Now how for F sake is small business suppose to operate when the state government is giving a monopoly to Jack Daniels (who BTW conveniently owns the whisky barrel making company in Tennessee, and you need these barrels to call your product whisky), and then taxes a product 4 times before it is put into the hands of the customer? Absolute bullshit - even the mob isn't greedy bastards to the extent the government is. And if they were, at least you actually get what the mob promises you in the arrangement, unlike the government who takes your money, but typically weasels out of providing the services they say they offer from your taxes with lies and red tape.

A good example of government over regulation.

That it is.

1

Cook county Illinois did this, people began shopping in other counties, the city lost revenue and then the powers that be figured out the tax is affecting the poor, they reversed the tax.

Vice taxes, ugh, sucks but somewhat neccesary

The gouv exists for those who will not gouvern themselves.

God forbid if you choose to do somthing that other people believe is unhealthy for you! They will have to protect you from yourself. We can't allow people to make their own choices, they might do somthing the majority or the ruling class disagrees with.

Women should be allowed the freedom to abort third trimester babies because it's her body, but don't drink soda, because that's harmful.

If I own my own body I can do what the hell I want to with it so long as I am not hurting others. If I don't own my own body I'm a fucking slave!

The nanny state is getting out of control...

Excellent comment by the way, I concur. Pennsylvania is a good state to live in for some things like gun rights for example, but backwards in other areas...

@SpikeTalon sad, but true!

@SpikeTalon our wonderful governor is trying to pass a bullshit gun registration law. I hope it doesn't make it past the legislature. I think he wants to be another Quomo.

@LEPeff I know about that proposed registration. All in all though PA is one of the more gun friendly states in the northeast. Wolf is a damn puppet, and hopefully the Republicans give him a hard time.

@SpikeTalon Yes Pennsylvania is a beautiful state but Oklahoma is a very conservative state and also very pro gun. No democrat has carried Oklahoma in a presidential election since 1964 and neither Obama or Hillary carried a single one of our 77 counties.

Well, I agree in premise, except the body of the child that is aborted is not the mother's body - so I disagree with the whole "her body, her choice" argument. What about the choice to use birth control pills, spermicide, condoms, and/or just give a F-ing blow job? Lots of other choice these irresponsible murderers had, but couldn't be bothered with either I guess. But I do agree, if women can murder her child, why can't I smoke a plant?
