Does anyone else share my opinion that, as a United States Citizen and a gun owner, the 2nd Amendment makes me a member of a protected class? It’s my belief that the 2nd Amendment was written in its simple form to make it impossible to mess with, change or remove and that by choosing to be a law abiding gun owner, I can own any firearm I want, buy and keep as many rounds of ammo as I want, and that ANY politician that says differently or tries to restrict, tax or revoke my gun and ammo ownership in any way is violating my protected status and should be subject to removal and lifetime ban from holding office and should also be subject to prosecution for violating my rights.
And if others share my belief on this matter, how do we make it law and start prosecuting politicians?
Wondering what others think....

Well... when one looks at the phrase "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms" in the Second Amendment, there's no distinction between the people. In other words, not everyone may own a gun, but they have a right to. With that being said, I'm of the opinion that gun-owning U.S. Citizens wouldn't necessarily qualify as being a protected class.

We also need to consider what the government considers a protected class. For instance, the following is a list of current federal protected classes in regards to employment: Race, color, religion or creed, national origin or ancestry, sex, age, physical or mental disability, veteran status, genetic information, and citizenship.

Now, I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice if gun owners fell into the list of protected classes. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever see it.

A person owning a gun is not in a protected class, the Right to own is protected.

I’m not so sure that it exactly puts us in a protected class but what it does do is grant us a constitutionally protected, enunciated right and those are hard to take away or undermine. I know the Democrats, progressives and liberals will try their damnedest to do exactly that but the constitution is on our side
