Although, when I was young, we had a similar incident in my small town!!! The Suspect was identified at the time of the crime (again, Small Town) before the Sheriff could get the warrant for arrest issued by the judge, the suspect was found floating in the river!!!!! No arrest at all!!!!
We never had another similar crime in that area!!!!!
