How to define the IDW & IDW Community?

I was recently speaking with someone i work with and simultaneously reading posts on the IDW Community page. He asked me "what is that you're reading?", and i responded "A forum page for a community of fans of intellectuals who were made viral through the internet to connect and talk about topics " (that was a paraphrase).

I saw what i said as a pretty accurate, yet vague, representation of what this community is. So, i got thinking later on about how to think, speak about and ultimately represent these people through our lives. I, being someone who has benefited greatly from the work that these people have done in the many spheres of influence which they operate in, would like to present a bit more of a comprehensive explanation to anyone who would like to hear it. Partly to have a concrete definition to go to whenever and partly because i think I/we owe it to these intellectual gods to be spoken of in the highest of manners.

Would love to hear what everyone has to think about this. ALL opinions welcome.
